Dysport® Cosmetic Injectables in Bondi with Dr Helen
What is Dysport®?
Dysport® is a type of botulinum toxin, a naturally occurring protein extract and is generally well tolerated in minute levels administered for cosmetic use. Dysport® has been approved for use for 25 years globally and now available through Bondi Dentistry.
How does it work?
A very small dose of Dysport® is injected in the specific frown muscles causing lines and wrinkles. Once the muscles are relaxed, the overlying wrinkles in the frown may soften or reduce. The treatment takes around 10-15 minutes and is minimally invasive are relatively pain free. Dr Helen is adept at making her patients feel relaxed and calm in order to further make the process a smooth one.
How quickly will I see results from Dysport®?
You may notice the results of Dysport® in just 2-3 days. If you decide not to continue your Dysport® treatment, your muscle activity will gradually return and your wrinkles will not be worse than your pre-treatment state.
How long will the effects of a Dysport® treatment last?
The effects of Dysport® last up to 5 months although individual results may vary.
What results should I expect?
When the frown lines are relaxed after a Dysport® treatment, the skin around the area will look smooth and less wrinkled. Dysport® allows the untreated areas to move as normal. You will still be able to laugh, smile and frown, just with less wrinkling of the skin in the treated areas.
Can Dysport® cause side-effects?
As with any cosmetic medical treatment, occasional side-effects can occur. These can include headaches, pain, bruising, swelling, itchiness, a feeling of pins and needles or redness at the injection site. muscle weakness such as drooping eyelids or eyebrows along with swelling of the eyelids or eye muscles may also occur. If you experience any of these unwanted side effects contact and consult Dr Helen.
BEFORE & AFTER
DYSPORT FOR GUMMY SMILES
Dysport can also be beneficial for individuals with gummy smiles.
A gummy smile is a condition in which a person’s upper gums are more visible than they would like when they smile. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including an overactive upper lip muscle that pulls the lip up too far, revealing more of the gums.
Dysport can be used to temporarily relax the overactive muscle responsible for the gummy smile. By injecting Dysport into the muscle, the upper lip is prevented from rising too far, reducing the amount of gum tissue that is visible when a person smiles.
The effects of Dysport on gummy smiles typically last for several months, after which the muscle will gradually regain its function, and the gummy smile may return. However, with regular treatment, the muscle can be trained to relax over time, resulting in a more natural-looking smile.
It is important to note that Dysport injections for gummy smiles should only be performed by a trained and experienced healthcare professional. Dr. Helen Kanikevich is your Dysport professional in Bondi.
